Earlier this month, Animal Logic announced the launch of a new production company, Truant Pictures, and Darin Grant (pictured) appointed as new Chief Technology Officer.
A subsidiary of Animal Logic, Truant Pictures will develop and produce live-action genre films in Australia in collaboration with emerging and established Australian talent. Wherever possible the films will be produced in Australia for a worldwide market.
Truant Pictures will be headquartered at Animal Logic’s Sydney-based studios and will also operate out of its Los Angeles offices alongside sister company Animal Logic Entertainment. Current projects in development include The Haunting of Mary Todd with Zak Hilditch and Justin Monjo, Biohackers with Stephen McCallum and Michael Kratochvil, The Galvanist with Shayne Armstrong and S.P. Krause, and The Gooynboon with Jub Clerc.
In early August, a new appointment was announced to the Group Executive Team, naming Darin Grant Chief Technology Officer. Grant joins Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Zareh Nalbandian, Chief Operating Officer, Sharon Taylor and Chief Business Officer, Robert Norton.
Grant has over 20 years experience in the industry, holding a variety of senior positions as a technologist including Head of Production Technology at DreamWorks Animation and more recently as the Global CTO at Digital Domain and Method Studios where he drove innovation and operational excellence across engineering and operations.
Our recent partnership with Imagine and Warner Bros. has created great new opportunities for Animal Logic, said Nalbandian.
“The Executive Team will be critical in guiding the company through this expansion as we continue to establish Animal Logic as a global producer of ground breaking screen content.”
