Production has commenced in Victoria on the brand-new premium drama Bloom.
Starring two-time Oscar-nominee Jacki Weaver alongside Bryan Brown, Phoebe Tonkin and Ryan Corr (pictured), the Stan Original series explores the beauty and brutality of nature in a mystery that unfurls in six compelling parts – one year after a devastating flood kills five locals in an idyllic country town, a mysterious new plant appears with the power to restore their youth.
Filming will showcase regional Victoria with Clunes providing a stunning backdrop for the fictional town of Mullan. Other filming areas include outer Melbourne suburbs of Yarraville, Altona, Werribee and Newport.
Bloom will also showcase Victorian creative talent, being penned by leading Victorian screenwriters Glen Dolman and Alison Niselle. LA-based Glen Dolman’s credits include Hawke, The Mystery of a Hansom Cab, Head Start, Always Greener and Britain’s longest running crime drama The Bill. He is currently writing a pilot for Hulu. Industry veteran Alison Niselle has worked on iconic Australian television productions including The Flying Doctors, Carson’s Law, Prisoner, G.P., Home & Away and Blue Heelers.
Set to premiere exclusively on Stan this summer, Bloom is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s subsidiary Playmaker and funded by Screen Australia and Stan with financial support from Film Victoria’s Assigned Production Investment program and Regional Location Assistance Fund.
