The Great Gatsby comes to Sydney
Backed by Warner Bros., Baz Luhrmann’s $120 million 3D film The Great Gatsby will be made in Australia.
Fox Studios in Sydney will be the production base for film, with location shoots also occurring elsewhere in the New South Wales (NSW). Visual effects and post production work will also occur in NSW.
The film, based on the 1920s novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire and will be the first live action film shot in NSW in 3D. It has been secured under the NSW Government’s enhanced film investment fund.
Pre production on The Great Gatsby will start in March with 17 weeks of filming starting in August, followed by 30 weeks of post production work.
