Strong Australian presence at Berlin International Film Festival
Australia had a strong showing at the 61st Berlin International Film festival this month, Australian films Red Dog and Griff the Invisible screened in the Generation 14plus section.
Red Dog starring Josh Lucas, Rachael Taylor, Koko the dog, and an ensemble cast featuring Noah Taylor, Loene Carmen, Luke Ford and Keisha Castle-Hughes, is the story of a charismatic kelpie who roamed the West Australian outback in the 1970s, hitching rides, adopting people and uniting communities along the way.
Adapted from the worldwide best selling novel by Louis de Bernières’, Red Dog is directed by Kriv Stenders (Lucky Country) and produced by Nelson Woss (Ned Kelly) and Julie Ryan (Ten Canoes). The film is visually stunning with the rugged outback landscape of Western Australia’s Pilbara region a key feature.
Griff the Invisible screened as the Opening Night film for Generation and is the story of an office worker by day and a superhero by night whose world is turned upside down, the film stars True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten and Maeve Dermody.
