Australian Film at Sundance

The international premiere of the Australian film Mad Bastards will be held at Sundance Film festival on Monday, January 24 at 6pm. Produced and directed by Brendan Fletcher, the film follows TJ a ‘mad bastard’ and his estranged 13 year old son who is on the fast track to becoming one too. Developed with local Aboriginal communities and fuelled by a local cast, the film draws from the rich tradition of story-telling inherit in indigenous life. The film was selected to be simulcast via video on demand as part of the Sundance Selects program.

In the documentary section of the competition the Australia/American co-production Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure had its world premiere on Saturday at Sundance. Directed by Matthew Bate, the film follows the story of two friends living in San Francisco who created one of the world’s first viral pop sensations when they tape-recorded the fights of their violently noisy neighbours.
