Ausfilm is pleased to formally announce the inaugural Ausfilm Co-Production Forum to be held in London on May 10 &11, 2010. Ausfilm, in conjunction with Screen Australia, the Australian state screen agencies and the UK Film Council is hosting this two day targeted event, pre-Cannes, to develop co-productions between Australian and British producers.
The Forum will feature targeted speed-pitching sessions for specific co-production projects that hold international appeal and a publishing pitching session during which published and unpublished manuscripts with available film rights are pitched to producers by literary agents.
State screen agencies have reached out to the local production community asking for expressions of interest from producers with one or more feature film project(s) in development that have the potential be made as either an official or unofficial co-production with an UK producing partner. Ausfilm is working with the UK Film Council to invite the highest caliber of producers interested in developing co-productions with Australians.
Ausfilm is charged with marketing the Producer Offset internationally and is therefore uniquely placed to promote, with forums such as this one, the benefits of producing international films in Australia in partnership with Australians. Ausfilm Week, held in LA annually in October, features a range of events targeting the US production community. The Forum and Ausfilm Week provide an infrastructure for Australian producers to work more closely with their international counterparts to ultimately increase production in Australia.
Ausfilm markets Australia's incentive scheme, locations and capabilities worldwide to attract international film and television production to Australia. Ausfilm is a partnership organisation between private industry and government. It comprises Australia's Federal, State and Territory Governments and 30 private-sector companies.
